FAQs:

Don’t worry, Chances are its been asked before

WELCOME…

to my Interior Design FAQ Hub, where I've carefully curated a list of the most common questions clients like you often ask. I've put together this resource to ensure you're well-prepared for what might be your most significant investment: your home. My aim is to demystify the interior design process, address your concerns, and provide you with the knowledge you need to transform your living space into a reflection of your dreams and lifestyle. From design ideas to budget considerations, I've got you covered. Let's start your interior design journey with confidence.

  • An interior design focuses on the functional and structural aspects of a space. Things like layout, lighting plan and building materials. Interior decoration primarily deals with aesthetics and decor choices; furnishings, color schemes and decorative elements.

  • In an ideal scenario, involving your designer as early as possible is crucial. We act as your advocates when working with architects, builders, and other trade professionals, providing valuable insights on floor plan layouts and style preferences. Early collaboration not only saves time and money but also tackles design challenges and addresses potential obstacles that might go unnoticed.

  • During our initial consultation, I will take time to really get to know you. Listen to your ideas, explore your style perferences and inspiration. I will explain my design process. We'll walk around your space to envision its potential. We'll discuss the project scope, budget and estimated timelines to determine which plan is best for your needs.

  • For Virtual Design projects, the timeline varies depending on the project's size and budget, but you can expect completion in 2-4 weeks.

For Furnishing Projects, we are at the mercy of the Furniture Gods, as I jokingly like to say. Different manufactures have different lead times. Larger pieces of furniture can take about 12-24 weeks in production. The great news is, is that the wait is worth it for a piece that you are going to live with for decades to come.

  • The “real world” is nothing like HGTV, there you see the results and not the process. Be flexible and comfortable handing over the reins. It will reduce your stress levels and make the process as enjoyable as the final results.

For furniture in a full-service project, the installation typically falls within an 3-6 month timeframe after final approvals. It's worth noting that some vendors are still experiencing delays due to the ongoing effects of COVID-19.

  • Working with a designer certain amount of trust and open dialogue. I want clients to feel comfortable sharing their wants and needs and also allowing me to use ky knowledge and experience to ensure you get the best end results possible. Being present and honest during meetings and being responsive to communication is key throughout the design.

  • Since I do this day in and day out, I have an understanding of what is realistic and will guide you toward your project requirement. On average, I typically calculate around $120 per square foot. This encompasses furnishings, shipping, installation, taxes and design fees. Your budget acts as our guide for achieving the best results. We'll collaborate to refine your investment, as clients often have a general idea but may need help with project specifics.

  • I work from a hybrid model, that is a mix of flat rate and retainer. The first Phase, based on a flat rate, includes development of scope, design of plans, and curation of materials and goods.

Once everything is designed we will switch to a retainer rate model to that includes generating purchasing based on final selections, ordering logistics management, coordination and installation of materials and products.

  • Yes, Over the years, my experience has found $20,000 to be the minimum required for a single room project. It's all about making sure I can give you the best experience. This budget allows for creation of a finished space you'll really cherish. Ultimately, your investment choices are entirely in your hands, and my goal is to work within your comfort zone.

  • I work with almost every style from Traditional to Contemporary to Modern and everything in between. This is about your journey and your style preferences, not mine. An important part of the Initial Consultation is seeing your space, the architecture of your home, your artwork and furniture to get a sense of who you are. Sharing your Pinterest or Houzz boards also help give me a sense of what you desire in your new space.

  • I don't adhere to a fixed signature style; instead, I craft interiors that are distinctively tailored to each client. By carefully considering your taste, lifestyle, and your vision for the way you want to live, I extract the core elements of your ideal aesthetic. With great care, I extend your vision beyond the bounds of imagination, ultimately designing a home that you'll cherish.

  • I usually skip shopping with clients to keep things objective and steer clear of decision-making conflicts. Going solo allows me to make choices that align with my design expertise and vision, ensuring a cohesive and well-thought-out space without any personal distractions or conflicts.

  • In my experience, everytime a client purchased a product there have been issues; When clients purchase similar products online for less money, it can lead to variations in quality, size, or appearance, which might not align with the overall design vision.

I carefully select products with these factors in consideration and can guarantee that any deficiencies are addressed, ensuring my clients have peace of mind throughout the process.

If you prefer to make your own purchases, that is fine as long as I know before beinning the project. Please share your selections with me for approval before buying to ensure it will fit into the design. You are be responsible for delivery, installation, handling freight damages, and coordinating related services.

  • Of course! My goal is to have your design truly reflect your beautiful life, not mine or anyone else’s. I want you to love your home and love living in it. A important part of that is having pieces around you that you love and that have meaning to you. They personalize the space and make it home for you.

  • For sure! For most projects, I will offer at least two (2) different construction teams, for my clients to interview. You will have the option to choose who you will contract with directly.

  • Without a doubt! I advise working with contractors with whom feel most comfortable! Design projects take a considerable amount of time. You have to not only like, but trust the people you entrust your home to.

  • Normally, your contractor will have a project manager that oversees your construction. I am available to pop in on job sites at crucial times such as electrical or tile installation or just to check on progress.

If you would like to hire me for this service just let us know and I will incorporate project management into our design agreement.
